Our annual bass outing for 2011 was another experience to be remembered. High winds, cold, and rain. Pretty much average for when we plan on an outing. But, we the true fishermen we are, went anyway. I must say though, that the fishing gods were good to me (inspite of my birthday), I ended up with two nice smallmouth.
Jan 1st, started the year off at Bob Evans for breakfast and fishing. It turned out to be just breakfast as the stream conditions were not very good. Too much snow melt and rain. Had a great breakfast with a few of the guys and much discussion on stream access, fruit baskets and posted property. Happy New Year ! Tim
June 10 2010 Thursday outing – While in my tube fishing in misery bay with others in the our group. I caught more fish then Dark Sider(Ron) while doing this it must be noted that I heard many a comment from the guys on shore some not so kind one of them was looking for a gun so he could shoot my tube.!!
So I guess I had a very good night indeed!!!!
Fly of the night Gartz gurgler in Yellow (Yes Ron they are for sale 9.95 for you every one else 1.95)
Jim Sharpe, Jim Simmonelli and I just got back from Cape Cod striper fishing, when the wind wasn’t blowing we were able to fish our favorite spot, Gammon Point. Gammon Point I think is the best fishing on the Cape, you have structure, a point where the water from two areas come together and lots of fish. The biggest striper was caught by Sharpe a 38″ 17lb monster of a bass. Simonelli seemed to catch fish when no one else did. And I did caught a 14lb 30″ striper my largest ever, this came after several hook ups and two small blues.
If anyone gets a chance to fish Cape Cod, it’s a great pace to get hooked on stripers.
Went to the Oak Orchard with Darksider Ron, Elaine and Pete from the fly tyiers club. Everyone had a great time with Ron being the only one catching a fish. Ron caught a 24″ Brown with the rest of us having hook ups but no fish. The fishing is a bit different from Elk Creek, we were below a dam so the water had a constant flow that moved at a good rate. The river didn’t have the slow moving pools where we were fishing, maybe further down river there were slower pools like they have in our local creeks. Tim
